However, a proficiency exam is held at the beginning of each academic year regarding the compulsory Foreign Language Course which is to be offered in the curriculum of all departments. The students who have embarked on a self-learning period or acquired necessary skills in the course are eligible to enter this exam. Those who have successfully passed the exam are eligible not to take the course.

The students studying in this undergraduate program are required to have a Cumulative Grade Points Average (Cum.GPA) of not less than 2.00/4.00 and have completed all the courses with at least a letter grade of DD/S in the program in order to graduate. The minimum number of ECTS credits required for graduation is 240. It is also mandatory for the students to complete their compulsory internship in a specified duration and quality.

The department is designed to provide the students with overall and indispensable knowledge of culture and literature through various specialized and elective courses in French philology. Applying the most recent developments in the field of French studies, and by means of audio-visual devices and computer-based, the teaching staff covers a vast material that includes, among other concerns, the major periods, movements and genres of French literature, the development of European literature, literary theory and criticism, comparative literature, linguistics, text analysis, translation studies.

Exams, Assessment and Grading
There is at least one midterm exam each semester. In addition to midterm exams, projects and assignments are given at the beginning of each semester, the dates of which are specified in the semester content given at the beginning of each semester. At the end of each semester, the student has to take the final exam. Criteria (such as midterm, project, homework and final) and their effect on the final grade are clearly stated in the course content distributed at the beginning of the semester and/or published on the website. According to the student regulations and academic calendar, final exams are held on the dates, places and times determined and announced by the university. The final grade of the student is given by the course instructor according to the results of the midterm, project, homework and final exam.
The passing grade at Namik Kemal University is 60 out of 100. However, the final or make-up exam result must be at least 50. Exams are evaluated out of 100. The success grade of a course is shaped by the predetermined percentages of the midterm exam, other evaluation criteria such as homework, project, etc. and the final exam. However, the percentage of the arithmetic average of the midterm exam of a course can be determined with a threshold between 30% and 50% of the grade received; the grade received in the semester / year-end or make-up exam can be determined with a threshold that can vary between 70% and 50%. As a result of the calculation, if the first number after the decimal point is less than five, it is increased to the lower integer, and if it is five or more than five, it is increased to the upper integer and finalized.
The regulations can be found on chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://esas.nku.edu.tr/dosyalar/dokuman/C0B15681-D5F7-7179-A310-745B82E08CA0.pdf
